ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The Department of Commerce is one of the oldest Department of our college being it was started its journey from the inception of our college i.e in 1967 as B.Com General Course to meet the higher education aspiration of Bidi worker families Students. Very soon in 1972 it is developed by B.Com Honours Course to meet high demand of Local Students. So many Prominent Professors such as Prof. Jagabandhu Mondal, Prof. Santosh Bhattacharya, Prof. Ram Chandra Das, Prof. Bidyapati Halder, CA Nikhilendu Bikash Das, Dr. Syamal Kumar Mandal were the faculties of this Department. Not only the local students but also student from North Bengal as well as border area of Bihar took&nbsp; admission in our college being the nearest college of Calcutta University of these areas.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The Department has 50 Honours seats and 150 General/Programm Course seats. It was highly demand subject up to 2000; but since then the demand of the subjects has fallen not only in our college but also throughout the rural Commerce Colleges of West Bengal due to some reasons. But good news is that from the Current Academic Year 2020-21 it has been increased and hope that the Department will gets back its glorious days very soon.</span></p>
